Find a Bra Your Size!

I don't how to explain how excited I am to be introduced to a place where I can actually feel like a woman. A problem area for me has always been my small breast. Head on over to Lula Lu to check out their complete line of 32 AAA bras. I'm not that size nor do I shun anyone for being small, but I think I found a new place to order bras that look, feel and give me something extra while still remaining feminine. If I ever looked at the proportion of anyones' body we all have the same bone density and we do have to stay within a certain range. My weight has never been a match, but that is my goal. I believe that my breasts would look more proportionate if my body (back, rib, chest area) were smaller. That being said, I'm lucky to have found the humor in all this help for enhancing and being happy with what I do have. I came across this video while doing research on how at my age I can deal with what I was given. After hours of research this made me laugh and is actually helpful...

Negative Calorie Foods

Doesn't everyone want the perfect snack? Obviously making healthy snack food choices is difficult for all of us, especially when the biggest excuse is, 'I just don't have enough time.' I don't have any tips and tricks to help you with your actual mind set, yet... Previously, I believed all the hype about low-calorie, low-fat, fat-free nutrition food labels, plenty of people still do. Most media out there is focused on how to read and deceiver these labels and I prefer not to eat them at all.
At least I can provide you with a real life gimmick for putting those healthy snacks in your lunch boxes and most importantly, your mouth. I'll introduce you to Negative Calorie Foods: these are foods that require more calories to be spent on digestion than it provides. Basically, the amount of energy is used to process food is above your resting metabolism rate (thermic effect). Since all of these foods are natural, they naturally fit in with any healthy lifestyle goal.

  • Celery
  • Oranges
  • Grapefruit
  • Strawberries
  • Tangerines
  • Carrots
  • Apricots
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Watermelon
  • Cauliflower
  • Apples
  • Hot Chili Peppers
  • Zucchini
A word of caution: These foods should not be isolated as a well-balanced diet or weight loss plan.
As always exercise is also implemented as a source of thermal energy that helps your metabolism burn your extra calories (weight loss/maintenance). The good news! Having these foods in your diet plus exercise (aerobic, anaerobic weight training) improves the thermal effect of the food, burning more calories per hour.

Make over your perspective: How to create a gratitude practice on Shine

Make over your perspective: How to create a gratitude practice on Shine

How ironic that I've been going through a phase where I want to morph into a good person. Apparently back at the end of May is when I thought practicing gratitude would be a good idea. Nevertheless, even without looking back at this article I have actually started a gratitude journal. It's only been three days. I often forget to look for things throughout the day or be grateful for the things that I've already written about. That's not the point of this journal, but I collect my thoughts at the end of the day. Since then, I have actively practiced how to turn a negative thought, for example when I'm about to complain about my other half not doing something at all or something right. I have stopped in my steps (mental steps) and turned into a positive thought. Such as, "What loving act can I do right now?" It has worked and stopped a major argument about who is to pay the credit card bill and that is was almost late! Give it a try. It will lighten your mood...

On Hiatus

I've been pretty much out of the loop since my computer has broken down. I was convinced to find a phone to do all of my blogging needs. I'm sure that is out of the question. I have also have no camera, so I have been doing the last posts via cell phone. The most positive thing to come out of this ordeal would be that
a) I found a new job
b) I've been paying a lot more attention to my container gardening. Which in fact, I have created a 4-pepper container garden complete with coleus and pentas! I'll have to post the picture via phone.
And thirdly, I have been doing a lot more reading and dove again into the paths of enlightenment and entitlement. By entitlement I mean that I've read a book called "Princess: You Know Who You Are." Although, the book is more intended for humor purposes I believe it has lots of truths. Like how all women are they're own sugar mamas. Partially because we are the only ones who ever know are true needs, we know ourselves better than anyone else. So how can we sit here and pretend to be princesses when the people who we expect to pamper us don't really know how to do it our way at all; the old me would snap if something wasn't done to my expectations. Instead, I should take that negative sentence out of my head and replace it with a thought or act of love or kindness. I also have to think, only I could have done it the way I like it. (Remember: No Expectations, they ruin everything).
Recently I have been lashing out at the hands that feed me and I still have yet to figure out the root of me being evil. So included in my readings were a lot of things about Doshas and the Ayurveda practices. Perhaps following the recommendations for my dosha will help keep me in balance with anger and patience.

Stay Dry This Summer!

This is one of those embarrassing posts where I post a solution to that elephant in the room question. Trying a bit of humor on for size. Most of my life I've had a problem with excessive sweating. From the moment I started a rigorous activity or faced a stressful event the beads on my forehead would form. I'm offering a solution to the 'pitts.' After bathing or washing up for the night apply two layers of your favorite deodorant to clean, dry underarms. When you wake in the morning apply one more layer and you should be dry all day! Be sure to do this whenever you need that extra protection for the summer heat or event. Applying deodorant at night is more effective since the skin absorbs more during the sleep cycle, probably why it's called the rejuvination cycle as your cells repair, refresh, and renew for a new day and new body.

What Bananas Aren't Good For...

Bananas are one of those complete fruits that is very complex as far as how long the chemistry goes to serve your body. Personally, I love bananas, pure and not banana flavored things. Two things that I have learned and been taught are as follows: if you are having symptoms of an ichy throat, sore throat or cough, do not consume bananas. They irritate your throat and cause the cough to worsen.
Secondly, bananas are good for muscle repair and to regain any carbohydrate that has been lost due to exercise. However, there is a difference between muscle pain and muscle soreness. Do not consume bananas when you are experiencing any type of muscle pain especially back pain.
There is one last suggestion, but haven't researched the validity of it. Try to avoid consuming bananas when outside or preparing to be outside where there is any possibility of encountering mosquitos. They love the scent the bananas given by your body odor causing the blood suckers to be attracted to your skin more likely making you live bait. I have experienced this myth however, still need to research it.
Next time, consider your diet when you are sick.
