Tip of the Day: Mess-free travel

Everyone is learning everyday...sometimes it's that type of learning that makes you slap your hand on your forehead and say, "How come I never thought of that?"

 Dang, I can never get my pump top bottle of lotion closed or keep it from pumping extra goop in my luggage AND I keep losing my ponytail holders. To kill two birds with one stone. Store your pony tail holders on the base of the pump to keep it from pressing on itself and making a mess and don't lose your precious ponytail holders.

Kiss French Acrylic Sculpture Kit

I'd like to first start out by letting everyone know this is just has a couple of pointers, tips, and mostly pictures explaining my experience with this kit. 


This is my second time in my 25 years to have an acrylic (fake nail) manicure.
This is my first time doing this or any other type of nail kit, EVER!


This is perhaps the easiest, cheapest way to get yourself a nice, wonderful compliment-filled French Manicure, which lasted me 3 weeks.

• Expect to be working with this for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, especially if it's your first time.
• I agree there is never enough preparation. Read through the manual and just watch the videos provided on YouTube by KISS USA. (IMO everything else is just a waste and is taking away precious time from you actually starting and finishing this manicure; practice when you have to do it again!)
• Do set down old/recycled paper underneath your working area, easy clean up & protection.
• Use a gel/cream based cuticle remover. Ensures cuticles are pushed back, out of the way, and it's just the easiest way to groom that area, no cuticle clippers needed!
• Will it chip? Yes. If you work in any type of environment that required you to peel off stickers, open cans/items, or anything that might need an edge of a nail. Remember, these are attached to your whole nail with glue; it's an extention of your own nail. It will hurt if you try to use them in any time of prying motion or they will chip/clip at the edges. This is why I said they lasted 3 weeks. (Personally, once I got used to them being mine, I started to become more rough with them, causing chips here and there. If you want stronger ones buy them separate after you've practiced.)
• Do one last swipe of nail polish remover before applying glue and nail. 
• Spread the glue evenly, press the nail firmly. Do it in one try! I had to do a second try on my index finger nail and I had a problem with that one the whole time. So please, no air bubbles and try to do it in one try to prevent having to re-glue mid-wear. 
• Do all the buffing and shining steps to achieve a shiny finish. Top with a clear or Rimmel ProFrench Enamel for a perfect finish!

Best Baby Wipes

In the realm of cleansing wipes there are many categories to choose from: baby, feminine, anti-bacterial, make up removal, and many more. This time I'm talking about baby wipes, regardless of what it is used for, but I was on the search for a non-anti-bacterial wet wipe that can clean up and leave any area of the body refreshed and not sticky. Sometimes you just need a wet wipe and need it to clean as if nothing extra was on it, like a washcloth. I was at my local Target and picked up and reviewed the ingredients for various wipes: Summer's Eve, Target Up &Up brand feminine wipes and baby wipes, Always cleansing wipes, Wet Ones, and all varieties of baby wipes (Huggies, Pampers, etc.). All of the wipes were nearly identical in ingredients even though they were made for different purposes.

Finally I made my choice and picked the Huggies Naturally Refreshing Wipes (be careful when identifying, there is all sorts of 'natural' labels). For one, I actually have heard of and everyone has had a product with all the ingredients listed on this product. Other products contain: Bis PEG/PPG 16/16 Dimethicone, Capric/Caprylic Triglyceride, PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Hydrolymethyglycinate, Benzyl Alcohol, Iodopropynyl Butycarbamate, Citric Acid, Bisabolol Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Acrylates/Vinyl Isodecanoate Crosspolymer, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Propylparaben, Ethylparaben, Polysorbate 20


This is a list for both a baby wipe and Always feminine wipes. 


One Ingredient that stands out on my list and on this product is: Retinol! 
Who wouldn't want a little bit of Vitamin A on their skin,  it's beneficial and helps your skin cells behave in a younger way. Not even a makeup wipe has that!
5 out of 15 Ingredients on this product are questionable...that means the other 9 are great!

• Water
• Glycerin: found in everything from food to cosmetics
• Malic Acid: an ingredient found in FOOD to create a tartness (apples, wine, grapes) it replaces Citric Acid and converts to a mild lactic acid. And that in turn makes it an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (for all the AHA and BHA seekers out there)
• Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract (Aloe Vera)
• Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract: Pot Marigold (a flower extract)
• Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract: JAPANESE Green tea extract
• Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract (Cucumber)
• Retinyl Palmitate: Aids the skin in production of Vitamin A
• Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)

For these ingredients studies have shown that the amounts placed on cosmetics products are in the parts per million and with continued use does not pose any threat. 

• Fragrance: That is questionable, but only to an extent. It's not a foreign substance.
• Potassium Laureth Phosphate: One of the least harmful of surfactants because of it's excellent osmosis and skin compatibility, lower irritating, emulsifier. Raw material for beauty products (shampoos/shower gels). Leaving a "bath-like" cleanse.
• Polysorbate 20: Check your Minty Candies next time, it is a wetting agent, it is being eaten. It is an anti-body substance that has the ability to help with the cleaning of protein (body fluids) membranes. 
• Tetrasodium EDTA: If you drink any type of soft drink chances are you're taking in this type of ingredient (sodium benzoate, absorbic acid) Aids in chlorine-free bleached items. Helps products stay moist longer increasing their stability towards air. Water soluble substance.
• Methylparaben: Biodegradable. Food grade preservative, leaves body quickly. 
• Methylisothiazolinone: Biocide preservative, found in shampoos, soaps, leave ins and creams. Anti-bacterial used in the coating in food grade packaging. FDA approved for cosmetic use. Warning: If you are sensitive to soaps already, probably not a good idea to continue use as it is a possible allergen. If hands, hair, and other parts of skin become dry or suffering from dermatitis, discontinue use of ANY products with this in it (everything will go back to normal). Also known as MIT. 

Don't Forget that the Retinyl Palmitate and Vitamin E fight free radicals and carcinogens! 
It's the best of both worlds. 


For the price, availability and ingredients this is my pick for the best wipe on the market! 

Let's Try This Again...

Okay...finally! I cannot explain in words how elated I am to have a laptop again! In reality, I didn't really miss all the technology, because I used my phone most of the time to surf the net. The only thing I missed was an actual keyboard so that I can type all day and all night about get rid of all these ideas in my head; almost like a pensive. Maybe anyone who reads this post will rethink that it is not a closed blog. I know I made false promises on both my blogs, but it really is hard to keep up something when you don't actually have the equipment to back it up. I now have a phone, a camera, and computer. I'm still all ears to suggestions or just a big mouth and you get to read everything I write. Enjoy!...again.
